Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

At what stage should I visit Babywaves?

We provide 4D ultrasounds from 15 to 33 weeks. We guarantee gender accuracy at 15 weeks.

What determines the quality of my image?

The amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby, age, fetal position and fetal activity can determine the quality of your pictures.

Some babies come ready for their close-up shots while others simply turn their backs to us, hide behind their hands and feet or cuddle up against the placenta or uterine wall. Every baby scans differently.

We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of your baby. You may want to drink lots of fluids several days before your visit for the scan done between 28 to 33 weeks. This seems to help increase the fluid around the fetus allowing us to better image the fetus.

Are guests welcome?

Family and friends are certainly welcome. We have an adequate size room that can easily accommodate 15 people with an additional 50-inch flat screen television for guest to watch. Comfortable seating will be provided.

The scan from 28 to 33 weeks can take up to an hour, so you may bring toys or games to entertain small children if they get bored.

Who will perform my ultrasound?

Babywaves is locally owned and operated. Our technologist is registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and has over 30 years experience. All ultrasounds at Babywaves will be performed by certified sonographers.

Is it safe? Are there any risks?

This question has been around for more than 30 years. After all this time and numerous studies, no study has found any negative impact, no harm to mother or baby, as a result of an ultrasound scan.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No, you do not need a referral from your doctor. We do recommend that you receive active prenatal care and encourage you to speak with your doctor about your intention to visit Babywaves. In no way can a Babywaves ultrasound be substituted for a diagnostic or medically indicated ultrasound.

At what stage during my pregnancy should I visit Babywaves?

The best time to view your baby in 4D is between 29 and 33 weeks as the babies are building more fat and more facial features can be seen. Some women may choose to visit twice or even three times during their pregnancy to see their baby's development. We will provide ultrasounds from 15 to 33 weeks. We guarantee gender accuracy at 15 weeks.
